FAQ

What are stem cells?

Stem cells are cells that have the potential to develop into some or many different cell types in the body, depending on whether they are multipotent or pluripotent. Serving as a sort of repair system, they can theoretically divide without limit to replenish other cells for as long as the person or animal is still alive. It has the potential to either remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell.

Why does Stemcell Wellness use Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC)?

MSC are multipotent, self-renewing cells that have the ability to self-renew and differentiate into a variety of other cell types such as skin, muscle, brain, vascular, cartilage and bone. We utilize MSC’s from the umbilical cord tissue that is youngest, most vibrant and effective which is easier to harvest than bone marrow-derived MSC’s. The cells have an abundance of soluble growth factors and cytokines and haematopoiesis supporting properties. Unlike homotopoietic stem cells which are derived from the cord blood of the human umbilical cord and are non transferable or autologous, MSC are allogenic and can be transplanted into a different person as they have immune privilege properties.

How does our Umbilical Cord MSC therapy work?

The MSC stem cells from 50 million to 100 million cells are administered intravenously into the patient. Since MSC’s have a unique immunomodulatory function, it will modulate your body’s immune system to combat autoimmune diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and Type I diabetes. MSC’s will migrate to the sites of inflammation and promote healing thereby improving health.

Does stem cell therapy have any side effects/ Is stem cell therapy safe?

Stemcell Wellness’ harvested MSC’s have immune privilege properties which means that there are no rejection or side effects from the body.

What if I am on medication?

Stemcell Wellness’ harvested MSC’s should not counteract any medication you are on. However, we advise you to arrange a free consultation with our panel doctors prior to the treatment.
